Thank you for this forum. I will respond in greater detail in a day or two, but I'll submit this for now.
I have a degree in Economics, and an MBA in Finance. I have approximately 30 years experience developing, managing, analyzing, and measuring performance to budgets, including capital budgets. I will carefully review the 2009-2010 and subsequent budgets and expect APS' administration to be forth coming with information to fully and truthfully respond to my inquiries.
I want to work with Superintendent Brooks to provide our students the best education we can , without placing an undue financial burden on taxpayers. He will have my confidence so long as that remains his priority and that of his administration.
APS must have a Code of Conduct/Ethics Policy that covers all employees, including Administrative. The policy needs to cover Board members also. On December 3, I addressed this at the Board meeting and it will be a high priority for me. Transparency and accountability should not be the exception in APS, it needs to become part of the culture.

Syd,

thanks for stopping by.

Re; cost. It would cost relatively nothing. relatively being the key word.
by entire dynamic, perhaps I have used the wrong word. My point was that, once a specific problem is discovered, questions related to broader aspects of the question could be asked.space exploration v. man on the moon.
A science teacher would not be as likely to use the national data as the classroom or school wide data. If a deficiency is illuminated, it would realistically guide the next year's instruction than the current year, simply because there is no time to re-cover material within the current rubric.
Dissemination could be done automatically. Is it too much to assume that good teachers would review pertinent data on their own?

Finally, as you are new to posting; I would offer at least one suggestion; it would help if you didn't write to me like I was some kind of dumbass that you need to school. Ask polite questions, get polite answers.

Thank you again for stopping by.

You’re kidding, right? It wouldn’t take much money to test each child each day?
With all due respect, what exactly is meant by the term “…the entire dynamic.”

What is the valuable information that is to be gleaned from this daily drill, given your example? How can, say, a science teacher use the national results as a tool that would inform their class’ instruction?

So, 30% of the nation’s children answer Yes, the moon is cheese, and they’re supposed to stop teaching about plate tectonics and do a lesson on lunar elements to bring the rest up to speed? Or do you suppose there should be a national curriculum where, say, all science teachers are teaching the same thing at the same time…?

Maybe we could aggregate at the school level, but then, if only a few people are manning a few floors of hardware to tabulate the national results on a daily basis, who’s going to disseminate the numbers to the schools and who’ll be in charge of oversight at the school level?

We have an Human Resources Executive Director, hiring individuals that do not have to apply for jobs.

Then we also have the Director of Finance paying her managers overtime when they are salaried. There is an employee, he is making $60,000/yr and he begs about making over $20,000 MORE IN OVERTIME!!! And, it is common knowledge that he does not work even his 40/week. How is that possible??? I know that there are teachers that work love the opportunity to make over $20,000/year.

This is my attempt to have someone look into this fraud that is happening at APS.

The scale does seem to be tipped in the wrong direction.

As a former APS teacher, I am well aware of principals' desires to move staff around if they don't like you. I was not only offered a bad eval. at the end of the year but the principal I worked under also attempted to have me not re-employed the next year! Thank goodness for strong APS leadership at the central office. Hey, all those teacher in APS having such difficulties, work and support your union and have then exercise all of your rights. It will make the principals have to work just a little harder to ge rid of ya'!

I know how she feels...I was fed up after my second year, but that was eighteen years ago, and I am still teaching, and I'm still 'fed up'...I have seen so many teachers quit, some at winter break, some at Thanksgiving, even one who quit on the third day...but you have to keep on going, the obstacles are enormous, but the kids need dedicated teachers who are willing to put up with it all and keep going...some of the best teachers are the most fed up with the system, but we keep going....it's hard, very hard, and people who have never been in a classroom will never understand...the conditions mentioned are all valid reasons to choose to do something else, no 'job' is worth your health and sanity, you have to find a way to overcome the stress and find the rewards and satisfaction (sometimes that happens every day, sometimes you have to wait for months!)...teachers need suppport, new teachers need the most support, or else we will continue to lose them...I love my job / I hate my job can be a true statement , we complain every day, but we keep on going...for the kids...for their future...

Amen. And about that pig thing... it's the same for cats only cats will dance if they feel like it . Dogs, however, are just copycats... talk about a misnomer. ;)
And this is why I don't currently have a cat.
But I do have three kids and they don't/won't get it unless they are inspired. Testing all day for weeks is not inspiring and it sets them off their routine (no homework, etc...) which cause a stop in any kind of learning process.
The intent behind NCLB was probably a good theory but like most theories, it only works on paper or in the minds of people who made that crap up and have no idea how it effects educators and kids.
Bah!
